Please help us welcome Mary Lamphere of Literary Mary Writes & Crafts to The 815 Artisan Collective!
Mary is a storyteller in just about every sense of the word. She’s a published author with 11 books to her name, a paper crafter, a teacher, and—as she’ll happily admit—an idea person with SO MANY IDEAS!
Her creativity doesn’t like to stay in one lane. One minute she might be writing fiction, the next she’s dreaming up cover art, making handmade paper, creating book art, or turning discarded pages into BlackOut poetry. Mary jokes that she has “CADD—Creative Attention Deficit Disorder,” which means there’s usually more than one project happening at any given time…and occasionally one of them even gets finished!
At the heart of it all is storytelling. Whether she’s working with words or paper, Mary loves exploring ideas and creating something that makes people curious. She especially loves BlackOut poetry—the challenge of finding a completely new story hidden among just a handful of words on an existing page.
Mary originally reserved a shelf at The Collective to share her books, but somewhere along the way she started thinking about all the crafting possibilities too. We have a feeling that shelf might be just the beginning!
Her hope is that her books and art offer a little exploration and escapism while inspiring others to create something of their own.
We’re so excited to welcome another local author—and a wonderfully creative mind—to The 815 Artisan Collective. Stop in, discover Mary’s books and creations, and help us give Literary Mary Writes & Crafts a warm welcome!
